When sheep fly: Herd takes helicopter to new Texas home
You may have noticed some unusual, blindfolded travelers being airlifted from one mountain to another in West Texas this week. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is using helicopters to move a herd of 80 desert bighorn sheep from the Elephant Mountain Wildlife Management Area to their once-native range at Franklin Mountains State Park in El Paso in the hopes of restoring the animal's population.
