While LG exiting the 4K Blu-ray market isn't necessarily the end of the world, it does represent a concerning trend regarding the format. It's never a promising sign to see a major company in the TV and AV space take a step back from UHD Blu-ray.

LG has ended production of its range of Blu-ray players, adding concerns to an already rocky 4K Blu-ray market.

Any remaining LG Blu-ray players on the market will be the last units you can ever purchase — for now, at least. That will leave Panasonic and Sony as the only major brands still actively selling Blu-ray players, though they too haven’t made any new devices since 2018.
