The French Embassy in Ecuador will finance a project to preserve the toquilla straw hat. This traditional Ecuadorian accessory was declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2012.

This panama hat has been handwoven with natural toquilla straw by Ecuadorian artisans, using traditional weaving techniques. It has a Petersham ribbon hat band, and adjustable internal sweat band.
